About Splattered Ink Games
Our mission
Our boardgames and RPGs embody everyone's intrinsic desire to explore the unknown, do good, and be heroes. At Splattered Ink Games we bring that heroic spirit to all our creations; immersive, beautifully illustrated games that celebrate light overcoming darkness through courage, fellowship, and hope.
The History of Splattered Ink Games
Every hero’s journey has an origin story: From basement D&D sessions to bringing epic adventures to tabletops worldwide.
Gaming Origins
It all started in 1992 with AD&D and comics. Silver Surfer 50 with that shiny foil cover hooked me on the Infinity Gauntlet saga, but Spider-Man became my true favorite. Gaming and art just clicked. If I wasn't rolling dice, I was drawing heroes.
Art School, Love, & the Dobbers
I set off for the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1996 and met the love of my life in 1998. We got married in 2000, and I chased my comic dreams with 'the Dobbers' in 2001. Reality came calling and bills don't pay themselves, so I pivoted to corporate design work.
Building Splattered Ink
I launched my own design company in 2006. Corporate stuff paid the bills while my son (2007) and daughter (2011) arrived. I got some dream clients like True Dungeon and Dwarven Forge though - and that first GenCon in 2004? My mind was blown by the new gaming renaissance.
A Family Game
By 2015, D&D and modern board games pulled me back into the fold completely. Soon my whole family was gaming together. I dusted off that old Dobbers comic and turned it into a deck-building game. We launched it on Kickstarter in 2018 as a true family project.
The Publishing Pivot
I started running 5e games in the Dobbers universe at conventions. One thing led to another and Hit Point Press wanted to help publish the Dobbers for 5e as 'Seeds of Decay.' On top of that, Splattered Ink started providing Kickstarter campaign design and marketing.
All-In on Publishing
While client work provided the supliment I needed to make a living, in 2024, I made the leap to focus purely on my own games. RPG Essentials tokens took off in 2023, followed by The Neverling and the massive success of 'A Time Traveler's Guide to Dinosaur Hunting'!
