Domain Branded Email for Business

Written by Darryl Jones

At some time I'm sure you've been told that you need to be using email that is associated with the domain of your businesses website.

I've told many people that, "You need to use This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it not This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ."

It just makes since. It's an easy way to indirectly inform people about your website. Every time the receive an email from you, or send one to you, they are minded about your website address. It also establishes you as a professional. That you're committed to your business enough to have an email address that is dedicated to that business. Additionally, when you're working with new clients or vendors, a non-domain branded email is much more likely to be disregarded as SPAM, or simply not recognized and accidentally deleted. You don't want that! Not to mention, do you want your customers to know you as Sally, or BigMammaJamma14?

Everything you do contributes to your brand, positively and negatively, even your email address.

Maybe you've been using BigMammaJamm14 for years. It seems like you'd be breaking up with a long time love. You're worried that your friends won't recognize you email. I'm not telling you to get rid of BigMammaJamma14. You can still use it right next to your more professional, domain branded email. In a future article I’ll go through setting up Gmail or Outlook to receive all of your email.

So how do you get your domain-branded email established?
If you already have a website and domain name it's easy. Every hosting provider I can think of includes email options that are included with your hosting package. It doesn't cost you any extra and it can significantly increase your professionalism. If you host with Splattered Ink, you just have to tell us what you'd like your email address to be, such as sally or info ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). If you need advise in this area, just ask. We're here to help. If you're not hosting with Splattered Ink, you can set up your own email address through your current host provider. Just log into your cpanel. It's usually at www.yourdomain.com/cpanel. Your user name and password are the same that you set up when signed up for your hosting account. Just log in and click on the Email Accounts link. You will be able to easily create emails as you like. If you have multiple domain names, just choose which one you want the email associated with and then set your password. Most cpanels even have a nice password strength gauge. A handy tool to help ensure your password is not going to be easily guessed.
